Another year, another GiveOUT Day! We were blown away by the enthusiasm for Australia’s national day of celebration and giving for LGBTQIA+ communities in 2024. GiveOUT Day is a unique campaign, bringing together crowdfunding and peer-to-peer fundraising in Australia’s only whole-of-sector giving day. In 2024, the campaign brought together 120 LGBTQIA+ non-profit organisations and thousands of generous donors, raising more than half a million dollars to strengthen LGBTQIA+ community organisations across Australia.
Record-Breaking Fundraising
Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of donors and the dedication of participating organisations and Fundraising Champions, GiveOUT Day 2024 exceeded all expectations, raising 23.4% more than in 2023 and involving more donors and Fundraising Champions than ever before.
This year:
Over $500,413 was raised over the course of the GiveOUT Day campaign, a 23.4% increase from 2023
2,445 individual donors showed their support with a donation
120 LGBTQIA+ non-profit organisations and initiatives participated
138 individual Fundraising Champions stepped up to show their support for a cause they care about, raising more than $51,000
$184,551 was distributed in match funding and challenge prizes to participating organisations thanks to contributions from our philanthropic partners.
These record-breaking results demonstrate the incredible generosity of our community and allies, as well as the strength of the diverse LGBTQIA+ organisations in Australia driving meaningful change for our communities.
A diverse campaign - We are immensely proud of the diversity of the LGBTQIA+ organisations and initiatives which participated in GiveOUT Day 2024. We had projects representing almost all states and territories around the country, including:
4 based in the ACT
5 based in Queensland
9 based in South Australia
2 based in Tasmania
9 based in Western Australia
These organisations represented all corners of the LGBTQIA+ community sector, from grassroots organisations to well-established, national peak bodies. Great diversity was also seen in the communities represented and served by these organisations, including Brotherboys, Sistergirls and other LGBTQIA+ First Nations communities, trans and gender diverse communities and LGBTQIA+ communities of faith.
Stories of Impact

Hearing stories of impact from organisations that benefit from raising funds on GiveOUT Day reminds us just how important this campaign is for the LGBTQIA+ community sector. For example, Forcibly Displaced People Network (FDPN) shared the impact of donations to their fundraiser:
“Since 2019, FDPN has hosted the Queer Displacements Conferences biannually — the first and only event in the Asia-Pacific region focusing on the intersectional challenges and solutions for LGBTIQA+ forcibly displaced people. This conference provides a unique platform to highlight the voices and lived experiences of LGBTIQA+ individuals, fostering awareness, solidarity, and alliances aimed at achieving justice, protection, and sustainable solutions.
GiveOUT Day 2024 donations went directly towards providing full scholarships for LGBTIQA+ refugees and people seeking asylum, covering their travel, accommodation, and conference registration. These scholarships ensure that those who need it most can attend and be heard.”
