ACNC’s proposed changes to ‘Public Benevolent Institution' status and it’s impact on charities
Rainbow Giving Australia urges organisations to respond by March 20th to ACNC's proposed changes to Public Benevolent Institution status. Following a 2024 court ruling against Equality Australia, charities, especially LGBTQIA+ organisations using advocacy, face barriers to obtaining tax-deductible donation status. Submissions should advocate for modernising PBI definitions and recognising advocacy as legitimate benevolent relief within an outdated system needing urgent reform.
