FAQ: What’s changed for Ignite Grants?

  • Our Where are the Rainbow Resources? report was clear. Leaders of grassroots community organisations and initiatives don’t have the time or resources to put into long grant applications. So RGA listened, included the lessons we’ve learnt from our award winning Amplify Pride Grants, and have added an expressions of interest stage and simplified the Guidelines for Ignite Pride.

  • RGA will honour our roots and continue to fund NSW based initiatives, and after 25 years and putting almost $1.5million into the NSW LGBTQIA+ sector, we are so proud to open Ignite to Not-For-Profit organisations and initiatives right around Australia.

  • Your organisation or initiative doesn't need DGR-1 status to apply! We know that many of the LGBTQIA+ organisations we want to fund are not eligible to receive DGR-1 status, and we are working to change that. In the meantime we have built the partnerships needed so that more small grassroots organisations can access our funding without going through the process of applying for DGR-1.

DGR-1 or Deductible Gift Recipient Status 1, is granted to certain not-for-profit organisations. It allows these organisations to receive tax-deductible donations, meaning donors can claim tax deductions for their contributions.

We have expertise and lived experience in our own communities. If we had appropriate funding and reach, our impact would be huge.
