Introducing Rainbow Giving Circle. Join our pilot year!

The Aurora Ball was born from community celebration and collective generosity, people coming together to celebrate, and give generously for LGBTQIA+ communities. This year, Rainbow Giving Australia is carrying that joyful spirit forward with something new: Rainbow Giving Circle.

Rainbow Giving Circle is a year-round community of people who give together and show up for LGBTQIA+ communities across Australia. It builds on Aurora’s legacy by creating more moments for connection and learning throughout the year, including an annual celebration and smaller curated gatherings we’re calling Aurora Nights. The Circle is national by design, creating more opportunities for people across the country to be part of this.

Rainbow Giving Circle has launched as a pilot year, with our first Founding Members coming together to help shape this next chapter of giving. Founding Members make an annual contribution of $1,000 (and can give more if they choose), with contributions pooled to support community-led LGBTQIA+ work and create greater collective impact than giving alone.

“This is an elevation of Aurora’s spirit, with more ways to connect and learn, and a more sustainable model for long-term LGBTQIA+ impact.” - Jane Marsden (she/her) Original Aurora Founder and Rainbow Giving Australia Member

For those who want a deeper level of engagement, members will also have the opportunity to participate in a guided, accessible grant-making process, with governance and due diligence led by Rainbow Giving Australia.

Our first Aurora Nights, will take place on 14 September in Sydney on Gadigal Land: an evening to connect, celebrate and recognise the collective impact of giving together for LGBTQIA+ communities. Complimentary for Founding Members and their guests, with limited public tickets available, the event marks the beginning of a year-round calendar of opportunities to gather, learn and contribute.

This evolution reflects a simple shift: from one night to a year-round community of giving together, at a time when the need is urgent and the opportunity is significant. The Circle creates more opportunities across the year for connection and learning, welcoming participation from people across Australia while strengthening the long-term support LGBTQIA+ communities deserve.

Over the coming months, we’ll continue welcoming a limited inaugural cohort of 100 Founding Members who want to help grow a culture of giving together for LGBTQIA+ communities across Australia. If you’re interested in joining The Circle or attending Aurora Nights, we’d love to hear from you at info@rainbowgiving.org.au.
